Spring Break 2009

Ok, so I am obviously not turning out to be a good blogger. :) However, in my defense, I did go to Sea World last weekend, bowling last Monday, and have been in Virginia since last Tuesday. I JUST got home today.

Sea World was fun...the kids had a good time. Sarah and I decided theme parks are not really meant for children. They just trick you into thinking that with those commercials picturing the cute, well behaved children that do not exist in real life. In real life the kids refuse to go to bed at the hotel at a decent hour. In real life the kids have a tantrum and scream louder than the crown during the Shamu show. In real life the kids are too busy wanting everything in sight to get anywhere. In real life they get over tired really fast and make you miserable. The cute commercials fail to mention the $40 chicken nuggets you will be forced to purchase and then have to force the kids to eat because they were too expensive to waste. But, really, it was a fun trip and once it was all said and done everyone enjoyed themselves. However, I will not be taking them back to Sea World for a few more years. :)

We returned home from Sea World Sunday evening. Then Monday was the first day of spring break (Yay!!) and I took Kyle's nephew's bowling. They are at such great ages!! No whining or tantrums. We had a great time!

Tuesday I went up to Valdosta to take a test I needed to pass for my Georgia teaching license (Yay, I passed!). Now I just have to finish this obnoxious online class and I will be all set to start applying for jobs in Savannah. My friend Jennifer drove me up for my test and then I went to Virginia with her and flew home today. I flew from Virginia to Atlanta (I hate that airport) and then from Atlanta to Jacksonville. I arrived in Atlanta and had 25 minutes to make it to another concourse on that train thingy. So, I am running with all my heavy luggage (since they now charge you to check any luggage!!) and get there only to realize that the one time I didn't check the monitor they changed my departure gate! I was so mad! After telling the poor innocent workers at the counter how annoyed I was I ran all the way back to where I had started at to be the last to board my flight to Jacksonville. Once seated on this flight, I realized I was in for a long flight and was seated beside two thirteen year old boys. After listening to their conversations on asexual reproduction (and how cool it would be if they had a "mini me"), french kissing, You Tube, fat kids, and how they do not obey their parents; I was subjected to having coke spilled all over our seats and cookies spilled all over me and down my shirt. Needless to say, as soon as the plane landed I ran off. Then, (yes, the saga continues) I tried to call my friend Jessie, who was picking me up, and her husband answered her cell and informed me she had forgotten it. Well, ok, I figured she would find me on the curb and she did. All was well. Then I get in the car and the poor girl tells me she had changed her jeans with her money in the pocket before she left home but forgot to switch the money to the new jeans. She discovered this when she was on empty and stopped for gas. After gathering all the change in her car to purchase gas, she made it on fumes to the airport. As I am loading my things into the car so we can go get gas before we break down she tells me to hurry because she also forgot her husband's loaded shot gun is in the trunk. AND WE ARE AT AN AIRPORT!!! I tell you...if it isn't one thing it is another...

On the bright side, I made it home and am done traveling for a while!! David's called while I was in Virginia and my wedding dress came in! :) I go in two weeks to have it fitted. Yeah, I started in January wanting to loose 15 pounds in 5 months. Now I need to loose 20 pounds in 6 weeks. Wish me luck. Tomorrow is day one!! I am hoping to get a lot accomplished (ha!) in the 2 weeks before I have the dress fitting and alterations. Short of starving myself, I am not holding out too much hope for fast results. Unfortunately, I love food and hate working out. :(

Anyway, hope you all had a happy Easter and maybe a good laugh at my expense after reading this!!
